Personal project: Jeffrey Lam brings ‘RECESS’ to streetwear

Journal
May, 2018

This Wednesday, we’ll be hosting the launch of RECESS – a new streetwear brand created by our very own Art Director Jeff Lam, alongside his wife Stephanie, and designed for all the other hustlers who came to Amsterdam to make their dreams come true. If you’re one of them, come say hi and try every piece from the first RECESS collection. Below you can read the full backstory on the brand direct from the creators themselves.

RECESS as an idea was conceived almost two years ago from a desire to contribute to the streetwear culture that originally shaped us in Hong-Kong and San Francisco, and continued to impact our lives since moving to Amsterdam in 2015.

The name RECESS came about, because recess was such a special time to both of us as kids. It was a time of freedom, a break from the routine, and it was OUR time. You got to go and venture off, link up with the homies, and just do whatever made you happy. We think that throughout our lives, as you grow up, you are somehow taught to forget that. You start to think that school is more important, or your career, and you start to lose sight of what truly makes you happy.
